Summer Camps at Arts Ballet Academy

We had a fantastic summer in 2011 with the following camps. More wonderful camps will be offered in 2012!

Enchanted Garden

Students (ages 3.5-5) will explore creative dance and storytelling with a garden theme. Tip toe through the flowers, leap like a ladybug, hop like a frog, gallop like a grasshopper, chasse like a spider. Each day includes an age-appropriate ballet class, snack time, story, art, and more dancing! Students will create crafts to take home and will host a showcase for parents on Friday June 17th from 10:30-11.

Grades: Upper Preschool, K

Coppélia's World

Beginning Levels - This is a camp designed especially for students ages 7-11. The camp offers an unforgettable summer experience to the dancers who are interested in further exploring and developing their dance technique. We will explore the ballet class format and different choreography formations. We will dance with partners and in groups. We will make friends, create dolls, build a toy workshop, learn nutrition and anatomy, and much more!  Craft time will also include work on designing and decorating their own props to be used at the end of the week performance. On the last day of camp the students will present adapted variations from the ballet from 4-5 p.m.

This camp will help aspiring dancers to deepen their passion for dance, develop a better understanding of the ballet technique, ballet vocabulary, dance coordination and musicality. The students will progress at a faster rate as they prepare for their continued training in the fall.

 Levels: Ballet 1 - 2 (minimum age 7)

Midsummer Fairies

Students (ages 5-7) will practice beginning ballet technique, which develops kinesthetic awareness and concentration skills while developing coordination, flexibility, strength, and musicality. We also explore creative movement and movement games! After class, students will enjoy activities about fairies in classical ballet stories, learn fairy dances and pantomime from Sleeping Beauty, and paint their own craft wings on acetate.  Each camper also creates a beautiful dance scrapbook to take home at the end of camp.  Join us on Friday, July 1 from 4-5 p.m. for a showcase where dancers will show their choreography and wings!

Levels: Entering K - 2nd Grades

Musical Theatre: CATS!

Students (ages 6-11) explore basic ballet and jazz training and expressive, artistic movement. Each day includes a 45min to 1-hour dance class, the study of the musical CATS, voice and acting lessons, Theatre games, and learning a piece from the famous musical. The crafts, scrapbook, and student-made CATS costumes will be sent home with the student. Parents are welcome for a CATS showcase on Friday from 4-5 p.m.  Be prepared for some awesome costumes!
